Where is the confirmation?
We email it to the address given on the entry form, as soon as the payment goes through. A free entry is confirmed straight away. If it has not arrived in a few minutes, check the spam folder.
The email holds a link to the entry. Keep it: it is how the entry is changed or cancelled. If the email is lost, ask the event’s organiser, whose contact is on the event page.
Changing or cancelling an entry
Open the link in the confirmation email. The entry page shows everything that was entered, with Edit entry and Cancel entry below it.
Changes can be made until the event’s change deadline, usually when entries close; the entry page says when. A change that costs more is paid for by card before it is made. After the deadline, ask the organiser.
Refunds
Each organiser decides whether a cancelled entry is refunded. Where it is, cancelling from the entry page refunds the total less the card fee and the Pre-entries service fee, to the card that paid. The page shows the exact amount before anything is cancelled.
Where it is not, cancelling gives up the place without a refund, and any refund is for the organiser to decide. The full terms are in the Terms of service.
Paying
Entries wait in your basket until they are paid for, so several people can be entered and paid for together. Card payments are taken by Stripe; we never see the card number.
An unpaid place is held for 30 minutes. After that it is released and the entry leaves the basket. Nothing has been charged, and the form can be filled in again.
Member rates
Where an event charges British Orienteering members less, the entry form checks the British Orienteering number and last name with British Orienteering. If it says the competitor is not a current member, check both were typed as they appear on the membership. The non-member rate applies otherwise.
A member can save name, year of birth, sex, club and SI card against the number, to fill later entries faster, under Saved competitor details.
Who to ask
About an event (courses, start times, parking, a refund): its organiser, whose contact is on the event page and in the confirmation email.
About this site (something not working, or hard to use): email ben@pre-entries.com with the page and what happened.
