Entrant terms (14 October 2026)

Last updated 14 October 2026.

These terms applied to entries made from 14 October 2026 until the current entrant terms reworded them in plain English. The rules didn’t change. Entries made before them were made under the 13 October 2026 terms.
  1. Who we are. Pre-entries is run by Ben Mitchell, a sole trader, of 21 Heol Wenallt, Cwmgwrach, Neath, SA11 5PT (ben@pre-entries.com).
  2. Agent. Pre-entries acts as the agent of the organising club only, not for you. It accepts your entry and payment on the club’s behalf.
  3. Contract. Your contract for the event is with the organising club. The club runs the event and is responsible for it, including safety.
  4. Payment. Paying Pre-entries counts as paying the club. The price shown at checkout is the price you pay. You never pay a card surcharge.
  5. Changes. You can change your entry from your confirmation email until the change deadline. If a change costs more, you pay the difference plus a change fee. If it costs less, you get the difference back less the change fee, never below zero. The change fee is 50p unless the event page says otherwise. It is the same however you pay, is shown before you confirm, and is not refunded. Changes that do not alter the price are free, and there is no fee when the organiser makes the change.
  6. Cancellations. If the club allows it, you can cancel for a refund until the change deadline. The refund is what you paid less a cancellation charge: 1.5% of what you paid plus 20p (shared between entries paid together), plus the Pre-entries service fee on your entry (25p, or 50p for national and major events). The charge is the same however you pay. If the event page shows a refund percentage, you get that percentage of what you paid instead, but never more than what you paid less the cancellation charge. Change fees are not refunded. Otherwise, refunds are up to the club. If the club cancels the event, the club’s cancellation policy shown on the event page applies. If the event page gives no policy, you get back everything you paid. The 14-day cooling-off right does not apply to event entries.
  7. Your details. Give accurate details. A parent or guardian must enter anyone under 13.
  8. Data. We handle your data under our Privacy Policy. If you give a British Orienteering number, we check your membership with British Orienteering. Start lists and results may be published.
  9. Risk. Orienteering has inherent risks. You take part at your own risk, except where the law says otherwise.
  10. Liability. Pre-entries is not responsible for the event itself. Where we are liable to you, our liability for an entry is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your rights as a consumer.
  11. Questions. About the event: contact the club. About your entry or payment: ben@pre-entries.com.
  12. Paying at the event. Where the event page says “Pay at the event”, the Payment, Changes and Cancellations clauses above do not apply. You pay the club at the event. Pre-entries does not take any payment. You can change or cancel your entry free of charge until the change deadline, and there is nothing to refund.
  13. Law. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
